In trechearous twists and turns into the invistigaton of Indore Couple murder and kidnapping case, the Meghalaya Police-led Special Investigation Team (SIT) team has revealed in a press statement that the wife has surrendered at the Nandganj Police Station in Gazipur district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Questions are rife around the transit of Sonam to Meghalaya from Gazipur. It is learnt that Meghalaya Police has gone to Gazipur to take Sonam under custody for further interrogation and statement about our murdered husband. Sonam will be taken to Shillong on transit remand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the press statement issued by the office of DGP, it said: “Following sustained investigative efforts and multi-state coordination, three individuals have been apprehended in connection with this case – two from Indore (Madhya Pradesh) and one from Lalitpur (Uttar Pradesh). These arrests mark a decisive development in unravelling the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of Shri Raja Raghuvanshi and the subsequent disappearance of his wife, Smt. Sonam Raghuvanshi.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Investigation is on as the other absconding contract killer is yet to be nabbed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, a court in Madhya Pradesh granted 7-day transit remand of three accused – including Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, Raj Singh Kushwaha – to Meghalaya Police to take them to Shillong for further investigation and interrogation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It turns out that Sonam Raghuvanshi’s mysterious story of post-marriage honeymoon tour is that of an adultery who had taken a vacationing tour with her husband only to get him killed by the contract killers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sonam Raghuvanshi – the wife – who had been on a honeymoon vacation with her husband Raja Raghuvanshi in the pristine hills of East Khasi Hills went missing in May 2025 after they had gone on a self-ride down the hills to explore secenic beauty in Riat Arliang area. After days of long and strenuous search, Meghalaya Police traced the mutilated dead body of Raja Raghuvanshi in the hilly terrains of Waisawdong Falls area, 20 kms from the homestay in Sohra, Cheerapunjee where the couople had been lodging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meghalya DGP further said: “This outcome is the result of round-the-clock efforts by the Meghalaya Police’s Special Investigation Team (SIT), supported by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), local intelligence units, and law enforcement agencies across multiple states.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier, national and various outlets of media had alledged handiwork of anti-social elements behind the murder of Raja and and disapperance of Sonam. Talking to media, Mr. Paul Lyndoh, Meghalaya Tourisim minister, shared words of wisdom to the national media by imploring them not to rush to conclusion in their manner of media trial which a section of media had done over this sensational case of Indore couple. To a question of having CCTV installed at various locations in Sohra, the Tourism minister replied in the affirmative but pointed out the impossibility of getting CCTVs in the difficult terrains of the hills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CM Conrad Sangma in a TV interview lauded the Meghalaya Police for their time-bound investigation into the sensational case and also warned the national media to do responsible coverage of instances related to tourists and tourism. The CM however assured that the sate would go an extra mile to ensure security and safety of touristis visiting the state. It might be noted that Meghalaya’s tourisim became the national focus with false narratives around the Indore couple case doing the rounds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
