The saga of trial for the absconding wife and four other accused begins today as the Meghalaya court sents them to 8-day police custody on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Police sources, Sonam Raghuvanshi made it to Gazipur after having presided over the murder of her husband Raja Raghuvanshi with the help of three contract killers who followed them up to the flash point of crime in Sohra at the behest of her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meghlaya Police launched a manhunt after the staff of the homestay where both Raja and Sonam were lodged and locals reported them missing with a scooty that was found abandoned 20 kms away from the spot of crime. With the help of locals and the state resuce & relief team, Meghalaya Police landed at the crime site near Weisawdong Falls area where the mutilated body of Raja Raghuvanshi was found in a pool of blood with Dao (machete), rain coat and blood-stained white shirt purportedly worn by Sonam lay aside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meghalaya Police cracked the case in a record time after having followed the case with the discovery of the dead body and circumstancial evidence left over by the perpetrators of crime. As Sonam was missing from the spot of the crime, various inferences have been drawn both in social and mainstream media. Thankfully, with the surrender of Sonam Raghuvanshi at Nandganj Police Station in Gazipur in Uttar Pradesh and the following investigation, the case took a different turn pointing to the handiwork of Sonam and her boyfriend’s accomplices behind the murder of her husband. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Raja’s wife Sonam and other accused in the crime were brought back to Shillong on transit remand by Meghalaya Police on Wednesday. Sonam however was brought to Shillong on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As the accused were presented in Meghalaya court today, Meghalaya Police got the 8-day custody of Sonam of 10 days acutally sought.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It might be mentioned that Raja Raghuvanshi and his wife Sonam were on a honeymoon trip to Shillong on May 21 and went reportedly missing from Sohra in Cheerapunjee two days later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
