In order to strengthen multilateral ties with Global South, India takes the lead ahead of BRICS Summit<\/a> to be held in Rio De Janeiro on June 6 & 7 in Brazil. PM Modi to take 5-nation tour today as part of India’s strategic step forward among the BRICS nations to become key partner in trade and commerce. The PM’s week-long travel will include Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil and Namibia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

India and Brazil will collaborate to advance ties in key areas in the best interests of the Global South, said by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a statement issued by the PMO. The PM said the diplomatic tour will help create a “balanced multipolar world order” and bolster India’s commitment to BRICS. “Together, we strive for a more peaceful, equitable, just, democratic and balanced multipolar world order,” the Hindu quoted PM Modi as saying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PM Modi is expected to meet with several bilateral meetings at the BRICS summit, following which PM Modi will visit Brasilia as part of State visit. India is committed to BRICS as a vital platform for cooperation among emerging economies. According to his iterinary, the Prime Minister will jet down to Ghana first, and then to Trinidad and Tobago where he will be hosted by Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar. President of Trinidad and Tobago Christine Carla Kangaloo was the Chief Guest at this year\u2019s Pravasi Bhartiya Divas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGhana is a valued partner in the Global South and plays an important role in the African Union and the Economic Community of West African States,\u201d said PM Modi, adding that his visit will build on India\u2019s historic ties with Ghana and help in opening up areas like investment, energy, health, security, capacity building and development partnership. PM Modi will also address the Parliament of Ghana during the visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
