The world's powerful leaders described the meet as "productive", but on the face it, the summit yielded no agreement on Moscow's war in Ukraine
The 2025 Russia–United States Summit or Alaska 2025 Summit between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin held on August 15, 2025 in Alaska was one of high-stakes meeting given its potential overreaching implications on Ukraine-Russian war and US tariffs on India and globally.
Although the world’s powerful leaders described the meet as “productive”, yet on the face it, the summit yielded no agreement on Moscow’s war in Ukraine.
From Washington and Moscow to Europe, Ukraine and New Delhi, the US-Russia meet in Alaska has been the most sought-after international event because of the concerns around the Trump-led tariff regime and imports from Russia that is fueling Ukrainian war.

Talking to Fox News, President Trump said he wouldn’t go ahead with imposing tariffs on China for Sino-Russian oil trade. Trump evaded himself from commenting on Indian purchase of crude oil from Russia which landed it an additional penalty of 25% over and above the 50% tariff regime on US imports, penalising India for imports from Russia.
“Because of what happened today, I think I don’t have to think about that now,” Trump referred to Chinese tariffs. “I may have to think about it in two weeks or three weeks or something, but we don’t have to think about that right now,” Trump told host Sean Patrick Hannity of Fox News in a televised interview.
As far as the outcome of US-Russia Summit is concerned, Russian President Vladimir Putin praised US President Donald Trump for the “friendly” tone of the talks, with the latter saying nothing publicly about the loss of civilian lives in Ukraine due to Moscow’s attacks implying that Russian national interests rule the roost.
Following the summit, Trump and Putin made no solid announcements even though the leaders claimed the summit being “productive” in the news conference.
