Semicon India 2025 Conference in New Delhi
Taking pride in India’s economic growth, PM Narendra Modi on Tuesday (August 02, 2025) said that India has performed better than every expectation, every assessment in GDP numbers, registering a growth rate of 7.8% for the first quarter of 2025 at Semicon India event held in Delhi.
On the backdrop of the Trump administration tariffs on Indian goods, PM Modi in a slight dig at the US tariffs said that when the world is facing economic challenges aggravated by “economic selfishness”, India has performed better.
It might be mentioned that this GDP growth in April-June Quarter of 2025 is the highest of the last five quarters.
Speaking at the inaugural address of Semicon India 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi says, “Just a few days ago, the GDP numbers for the first quarter of this year have come. Once again, India has performed better than every expectation, every assessment. At a time when there are concerns in the economy of the world, there are challenges created by economic selfishness; in that environment, India has achieved a growth of 7.8 per cent…”

First fully “Make-in-India” 32-bit microprocessor VIKRAM, developed by ISRO’s Semiconductor Lab, presented at Semicon India 2025.
Highlighting India’s tech potential, PM Modi added that the world trusts India’s potential for technological growth and hence it’s ready to trust the future of semiconductors in the country.
