The Meghalaya Police has filed a chargesheet in the sensational Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, naming his wife Sonam Raghuvanshi, her lover Raj Kushwaha, and three others for their roles in the crime.
In a chaotic world of crime, another instance of horrific incident has surfaced from one of the popular tourist hotspots in Meghalaya where Indore couple went honeymooning on a long vacation and eventually are not to be found. After 8 days of long search by NDRF, SDRF and Mountaineering teams, the husband (Raja Raghuvanshi)’s dead body had been traced to Weisawdong at Riat Arlang near Cheeranpunjee. Sonam Rahguvanshi – the wife – is still missing.
“We are working really hard to get to the bottom of the fact. Nothing is clear as to the sequence of events as of now”, the ANI quoted CM Conrad Sangma of Meghalaya as saying. The CM expressed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family and promised to bring the culprits to book.
The family members of the victims claim kidnapping and murder by local goons. The Meghalaya Police recovered machete (weapon) near the mutiliated body and raincoat at some distance from where the body had been recovered. As per the Shillong City SP Vivek Syiem, it is allegedly a case of murder or homicide and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) had been formed to further investigate into the matter.
The couple from Madhya Pradesh’s Indore had been on a tour to Shillong and went to Sohra near Cheerapunjee for sightseeing. Unware of what’s in store for them ahead, they were lodged at some homestay in Nongriat Village and hired a Scooty to self-ride down to Riat Arlang early in the fateful morning. The scooty stood parked at 20 kms away from Weisawdong where the honeymooning couple took a trek down to sink in the beauty of nature.
