Days after US-mediated truce, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu call it a “historic victory”, Iran’s Ayatollah Khamenei declares victory over “fallacious Zionist regime”.
It took 12 days of ferocious war for Iran and Israel to reach on the Washington DC-brokered truce deal ending escalating tensions in the war-torn region. President Donald Trump ordered bombing of critical nuclear sites in Tehran last weekend.
Joining in the first-ever commentary, the Islamic Republic raised concerns about US strikes that “badly damaged” its nuclear installation sites denting its future ambitious atomic programmes.
In a televised interview to Al Jazeera, meanwhile, foreign ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said, “US attacks were a “detrimental blow” to International law and nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty to which Iran is a signatory”.
Addressing the nation after the ceasefire announcement, Israel PM Netanyahu said, “Iran will not have a nuclear weapon. We have thwarted Iran’s nuclear project. And if anyone in Iran tries to rebuild it, we will act with the same determination, with the same intensity, to foil any attempt.”
Iranian officials assessed the scope of damage caused by the June 22 US strikes on three nuclear facilities in Iran.
