The election body clarified that no voters can be deleted from the rolls without having the affected voter an opportunity of being heard
Following Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s allegations against CEC Gyanesh Kumar, the Election Commission of India (EC) has dismissed them as “incorrect and baseless”.
The poll body countered Rahul Gandhi’s allegations that chief election commissioner Kumar defended those conspired voter deletion scams saying, “Allegations made by Shri Rahul Gandhi are incorrect and baseless. No deletion of any vote can be done online by any member of the public, as misconceived by Shri Rahul Gandhi,” Hindustan Times reported.
The election body clarified that no voters can be deleted from the rolls without having the affected voter an opportunity of being heard.
Referring to the issue of Karnataka’s Aland constituency raised by Rahul Gandhi, the poll panel responded in the affirmative, saying attempts were made to strike off voters fraudulently but unsuccessfully. The Election Commission also filed an FIR to ensure the matter was investigated.
The poll body went on to point out that Aland elections outcome reflected fair voting. BJP’s Subhadh Guttedar won in 2018 and Congress’ BR Patil in 2023 with no issues of “voter deletions” or “Vote theft”.
