MSMEs Get Technology Upgradation and Enhanced Digitalisation
The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector gets a new boost with the Government pushing new efforts on technology upgradation and digitalisation in order to improve competitiveness, accelerate skill development and make accessible advanced technology to small and medium enterprises.
According to the official release, initiatives such as the MSE-Cluster Development Programme, Technology Centres, the Green Investment Financing for Transformation (GIFT) scheme, and the MSME Champions scheme. These initiatives focus on modernisation, quality enhancement, green technology adoption and strengthening digital capabilities of MSMEs.
Digitalisation efforts are being accelerated through the Udyam Registration Portal, MSME Champions Portal, Government e-Marketplace (GeM), Trade Receivables Discounting System (TReDS), MSME Mart, MSME Sambandh, and the Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) portal. These tools facilitate online procurement, e-market access, digital registration, receivable financing and speedy grievance redressal.
The scheme such as the Establishment of New Technology Centres and Extension Centres mandates creating 20 new Technology Centres (TCs) and 100 Extension Centres (ECs) to expand access to technology solutions, skilled manpower training, and advisory support. Bihar’s Gaya and Jharkhand’s Bokaro – of the approved locations across the country – fall under aspirational districts.
The MSME ministry release also reads setting up of 65 Export Facilitation Centres (EFCs) across its field offices, Technology Centres, and Testing Centres to provide mentoring and handholding to MSMEs with an aim to enhancing export competitiveness.
