WAF Calls on Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to Deepen Collaboration with India

World Agriculture Forum (WAF) Executive Director Dr. MJ Khan meets Hon’ble Union Finance Minister Mrs. Nirmala Sitharaman on 27th Feb 2026 at her office in New Delhi to discuss key priorities for the future of Indian agriculture.

“We deliberated on strengthening climate-resilient farming, advancing value-chain based agri-financing, and creating dedicated funding support for agri-startups amid declining venture capital flows,” said Dr. MJ Khan

Dr. Khan further informed that GST reforms on agri-inputs and jointly branded Kisan Cards to enhance farmer access to structured finance were also discussed.

Dr. Khan briefed the Union Minister about WAF’s work and potential opportunities for deeper collaboration with India’s agricultural sector. 

Dr. Khan was accompanied by Haris Khan, CEO, Agriculture Today Group, who extended an invitation for the 17th Agri Summit to be held between 8–9 July in New Delhi.
