Addressing the 85th foundation day celebrations of Keshav Memorial Educational Society held on July 18, 2025 in Hyderabad, Union Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has said India’s semiconductor industry is a fledgling one and its first domestically produced semi-conductor chip should be available this year.
India has just began to manufacture semi-conductor chips. “We have already approved six semi-conductor chip plants. Their construction is going on. We will have the first Made in India chip in 2025,” Union Minister Vaishnav was quoted as saying in a media report.
India Inc cities like Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Pune, Gurugram and Chennai are taking the lead in design of complex chips.
Besides, the Union Minister said, India’s AI mission is on track and as many as one million people are being trained in the use of AI.
By 2047, India would be among the top two economies of the world, the minister further shared.
Speaking at the foundation day ceremony, Vaishnav noted that the world is going through a big change and that the “eastern hemisphere” are ruling the new order in the global economy in face of western countries which have had its dominance so far.
